Flower Guild

In the Sunday leaflet there is a place for people to offer to pay for flowers for a certain Sunday as a thanksgiving or in memory of someone. A phone call to the church office and then an envelope placed on the collection plate with a donation to this ministry is another way of contributing. When this information is received in the office there is a group of ladies who purchase and arrange the flowers for the altar.
After the service, the person on duty for that month delivers the flowers to someone whom the rector suggests to get the flowers. We give them to someone who is sick or shut-in, mothers of new babies, people celebrating a special anniversary, or to say thank you for some special event the recipient may have helped with. Although most of the flowers go to members of our parish, we also give them to others when the need is there.
For more information contact the office or Betty Mitchell

Music Ministry

The St. Stephen's Music Ministry is under the direction of Cathryn Wood.
Except for the Summer months, the Music Ministry leads the worship music at the 10:30 a.m. service on Sunday mornings. Rehearsals are at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday and at 10:00 a.m. Sunday.
We use a vast array of musical genres, varying from Anglican chant, traditional hymns, and Taize music to more contemporary praise and worship music. The main music book is the Book of Common Praise.
Contact Cathryn for more information.

Visitation Groups

A group of St. Stephen's ladies visit various residents of Extendicare Nursing Home on the 2nd Monday of each month. Contact Donna Neufeld for more information.
The group also visits senior parishioners, particularly those who cannot attend church on a regular basis, approximately 4 times/year. Contact Jean Keeley for more information.

Order of St. Luke

The Saskatoon Chapter of the Order of St. Luke meets at St. Stephen's at 7:30 p.m. on two Tuesdays of each month. For more information contact Betty Mitchell, the Convener.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

We have a group of people from St. Stephens who meet on the third Friday of the month to knit prayer shawls. We also sew a crocheted cross on each shawl. These shawls are blessed at a service of worship, and then distributed to people who are ill. These prayer shawls have gone to people in our parish, to others in the city, to people in different parts of Canada, and at least two, have gone to Great Britain.
We have received several cards and verbal expressions of thank you for the prayer shawls. We always welcome more people to help make shawls. If you are interested in helping with this ministry, please contact Betty Mitchell.
Occasionally we receive donations of yarn. There are certain requirements for the type of yarn we use. The people who have knit these shawls have purchased the yarn themselves. So, if we receive donations, it is very much appreciated.
If you go to The Prayer Shawl Ministry Home Page you will find all sorts of information about prayer shawls. There are prayers and stories and patterns just everything of interest.
